♥ So Close...

To formally announcing our Engagement!!! And when I say close.... I mean it's happening TOMORROW NIGHT! I'm so excited for my candlelighting. :)

Candlelightings are an interesting sorority tradition--everyone stands in a circle, and we pass this lit candle around singing a song(Song varies by sorority) or just being silent. The candle passes around once for luck...twice if you're promised(A step that most forget about--doesn't really happen anymore. ;) )...three times if you're engaged....four times if you're married....and then a final time for pregnancies. So, when the candle comes to me on the third revolution I'll blow it out and finally get to talk to everyone about being engaged!! These girls are my sisters, and it's been so hard to keep this secret ALL FREAKING SUMMER.

Funny story about that(I apologize if you know me in real life, you've probably heard this a bajillion times. Also, Momma I'm sorry for sharing this with the entire world please don't hurt me. ;)) is that by the time my mom joined her sorority, she was already married. Back in the dark ages, they didn't have a round for pregnancy. So, whenever someone needed to schedule a candlelighting, they called my mom, because why would she schedule one? SO when she found out she was pregnant with my big brother, she got everyone together for a candlelighting. It went around for luck, promise, engaged, married....no one blew out the candle. My mom whispered to the girl next to her to give the candle back, and she blew it out and told everyone that she was pregnant! I imagine there being a lot of screaming after that, but obviously I'll never know. My brother and momma's diploma were signed one day after each other.

I love that story. Hopefully I'll come out of tomorrow night with some awesome stories for all of my... 5 readers. ;)
